Do you have a personal touch campaign?

Do you have a personal touch campaign?

This is the one time in history (ok, I’m assuming) that folks will most likely be happy to hear from you. Unless, of course, you’re making a sales call.

But reaching out to your sphere and past clients, inquiring as to how they’re doing and an offer to help is a whole different animal.

We let a lot of the less-pleasant aspects of our businesses slide over the past few months and client retention is among those. Unless you’re the gregarious type, even a warm call can be uncomfortable.

Now is probably the best time to get back to it – building and maintaining those important relationships and remaining right there where you belong—top-of-mind.

Let’s take a look at some ways to ease back in to one of the most critical aspects of your real estate business with a personal touch campaign.

The masked man or woman

Many states are beginning to mandate that we wear a mask in public, so good, quality masks are becoming not only more expensive but harder to find.

We heard about this brilliant idea from a California agent. Stock up on face masks and offer them to past clients and your sphere.

Our agent friend had her logo stitched on reusable masks that she buys by the case. When she reaches out to folks in her CRM she always adds “Hey, how are you folks doing on masks? I stocked up on them and I’m giving them away to people I know. Can you use some?”

Then, she personally delivers them, in a sealed plastic bag.

Let’s do coffee

This one may be challenging, due to so many who are self-quarantining and the various social distancing mandates across the country.

If having a cup of coffee on the patio of a local eatery is cool in your town, coffee dates are the ideal way to spend a little time with past clients or someone in your sphere. Catch up, share lockdown stories.

A visit like this is a gentle, subtle reminder that they know, like and trust you. It’s also a good way to get the answers to any missing information in your CRM.

Don’t forget to send a thank you card, email or text a few days after.

Is it too soon to consider a client appreciation event?

We think a movie in the park could work as a personal touch campaign. Think about all the avid movie buffs who’ve been locked out of theatres since the beginning of lockdowns. Even if theatres are open in your area, it takes a pretty brave person to sit in a closed room with other people to watch a movie.

Holding this event in a park makes it a lot safer, a lot easier to enforce social distancing and very memorable.

Sure, it’ll take some planning, but if you’re not in one of the on-fire markets right now you probably have some spare time.

When all else fails

If none of these ideas for a personal touch campaign appeal to you, go old-school. Go through your CRM to find the dates of your past transactions. Then, create or buy postcards or greeting cards to send, commemorating your past clients’ purchase or sale.

You can create your own greeting cards online at:

If you use Canva, you can create your own greeting card free of charge. You’ll still need to pay for printing, however.

Even if you have never tried Canva, give it a whirl – it’s super easy to use.
