Today’s “In The Lead” show focuses on creating useful content online in order to rank on Page 1 of Google EVEN IN BORING LOCATIONS
Carri from South Flordia asked:
“Hey Tyler, I’ve read your content about SEO neighborhood pages but have a question. I’m in a small market without much going on or distinctions between neighborhoods. How do I write an SEO focused blog post on a local city or area?”
…And this is a great question!

Here’s the thing:
When it comes to ranking on Google, people freeze up when they hear they have to create content. On the show, I talk about how we get ‘writers block’ and start hearing negative voices in our head when it comes time to creating a page for your farming communities.
You start second guessing what type of content you should create. You’ll start wondering if it’s even useful to create a review of this neighborhood because: “No one will ever see it!”
And the next thing you know, you’ve read that article about SEO 2 months ago and still haven’t taken action.
So, I break down 3 simple ways for you to create lead generating SEO content today on the show. Here they are:

Step 1) Create A List Of 200 Ideas
The first step in getting over the ‘what do I write’ hump is coming up with too many ideas.
Do you want to attract luxury home buyers? Great! Write down 50 of the top luxury property developments around you. I guarantee there is almost no information about these developments online!
Do you want to attract relocation clients? Awesome! Jot down the 20 companies that have large numbers of relocating employees. Then write useful guides for all 20 of them that include restaurant reviews.
The list of 200 ideas will help you understand that your perspective of things being ‘boring’ is just incorrect. The reason it seems boring is that individuals haven’t already created the content.
This is your opportunity! Be the first to make the content; and then reap the rewards!
Step 2) Use Yelp Reviews For Inspiration
Still struggling to come up with ideas?
Take a look at Yelp!
There are millions of reviews and comments on almost every type of location on Yelp. My tip is to look at the 2-4 star reviews of nearby locations. And then curate their comments into a big review of the overarching area!
Struggling to fill your neighborhood page because of lack of ideas?
Yelp will fill your mind up with tons of opportunities. And you can see what hundreds of other people have already posted about a similar topic.
Step 3) Ask Friends For Help
Need more help?
Curate opinions of locals! You have plenty of friends in your circle as an agent. What if they each contributed a 100 word writeup of each neighborhood?
You’d instantly have 500-2000+ words of unique content that’s useful! Know that that means? Google loves it!
If you’re still struggling to write SEO content for your neighborhood pages, but want the SEO results, try interviewing your friends about the top 5 neighborhoods you want to feature.
Then, assemble their responses and post them online!
Step 4) Start Small
What’s the advice a real estate coach would give you when starting out with cold calling?
Start small and perfect your art over time.
They’d want you practicing scripts and working on small improvements over a 3-6 month basis!
What’s this mean for blogging and SEO content?
Don’t go try to write a “World Beater” tonight! Start with a simple 300 word description that maybe isn’t even that unique.
Then next week, edit the content. Add 300 more words and add some unique things that we’ve talked about.
These little edits over time will KILL IT with Google SEO rankings.
Step 5) Start Today
Finally, start today.
If you’re interested in SEO, stop researching it. And go write a little bit of content on your website targeting a small keyword or niche.
This is the only way you’ll see success over the long-term. Today is the only thing you can control! You have no idea how busy you’ll be tomorrow. Or what type of ‘new SEO trick’ will exist tomorrow.
But if you take action today and produce something on your website that is useful and niche enough…
…tomorrow, you’ll have something to build off of.
And that’s where success lies:
Success is staying in the business 3 years longer than your competition. ‘Not a flash in the pan’; one-off marketing tactic.

Quote of the day:

“Your idea of a marathon is what your competition thinks is a sprint.”
When it comes to marketing or lead generation, everything will see 10X harder the first time you do it. DON’T QUIT.
What seems like a marathon today, will be a sprint in 1 month. And vise versa, someone in your market probably already sees that marketing tactic as a sprint.
Do you really want to let them win?
