Does Facebooking Ruin Your Lead Gen Time? Here’s a list of typical time management faux pas that you might be making:

Did you block out 3 hours this morning for your cold prospecting?

I bet you’ve had one of those days where you get a text message here. And then a couple emails there. And then you end up on Facebook for a couple minutes…or an hour.

And the next thing you know, it’s already time for lunch!

Real estate is full of distractions that can lead you to manage your time ineffectively. And when you add up all these little distractions it’s remarkable how much time and leads we’re simply losing.

There are several ways to cope with all this mayhem. I’ll outline them below this infographic that shows just how much time you’re wasting online on average.

REAL ESTATE TIME MANAGEMENT

This isn’t to say that it is bad to spend time on these distracting things. But it you should be aware of the time you’re spending on all these various sites.

Check out this infographic by SurePayroll for some of the top stats on distractions from work:

Here are some tips to help you prioritize your day better:

  1. Limit your interruptions:
    1. Do you keep gmail open all day? You can try checking your email only at certain points during the day.
    2. Do you keep Facebook open? Try scheduling posts with Buffer or Hootsuite so that you have less time spent getting drawn into the action.
    3. Do you have an empty workspace? Silence is golden when it comes to productivity.
  2. Can’t get started?
    1. If you’re struggling to get started with work, try setting a timer for a very small task. Let’s say you need to get to email zero. Set a timer for 7 minutes and make sure you’re done before the timer.
    2. Take small walks: Short walks can really break up your mental blocks and get you inspired again.
  3. Need to get organized?
    1. Try a scheduling app: I love apps like scheduleonce.com. They make it easy to find time with busy clients.
    2. Use a calendar: Google calendar has gotten a lot better throughout the years. I highly recommend switching to it and using it daily.
    3. Plan your day: If you plan your day the night before, you can have some semblance of schedule to what you’re working on.
    4. Keep the desk clean: A clean desk makes it easier to work.
    5. Try a CRM: When it comes to your contacts, nothing is more important than regular communication. A CRM helps you accomplish that! Stay in touch, and you will convert more leads.
    6. Focus your marketing: There is simply so much you can do to market yourself as an agent. I suggest starting out by picking 3 items. And focusing only on those three things first.
