Have you ever failed at implementing a new marketing idea? You read a blog post, followed it exactly, and then never saw the results… I know I’ve done that. This is just how marketing works. Things that work for one person with one business don’t necessarily work for all businesses everywhere.
Today, I’m going to show you exactly what you need to do and how you need to be consistently failing in order to see success in real estate!

This is a rather negative article compared to most of the ones I write here at Easy Agent Pro. But I think it’s something Realtors have to realize.
Not every marketing tactic, lead generation idea, or business strategy will work for you.
Click to Tweet: “Focus on only the marketing ideas that work for you in your business.”
But why?
Shouldn’t you try to get leads with a new Twitter marketing idea for Realtors if you find one?
Shouldn’t you try new things on Facebook for marketing?
Yes! You should.
However, I’ve found at Easy Agent Pro and in all my other businesses that only about 10-20% of the marketing tactics I implement actually produce results. And I’m happy with that. When you first see those numbers, you may think: “Wow, Tyler’s a bad marketer.” And I hope you don’t because these numbers are very typical amongst business owners.
The thing is through failure comes 300% growth in the areas that work.
For example, in January I decided to focus on SEO for Easy Agent Pro. 2 methods (backlink building and ) didn’t perform as well as I would have liked. But, this method, Tripled my SEO Traffic in 2 months:
Through failing, I succeed. I never would have found this method if I didn’t fail the other methods first.
Marketing ideas that work in one niche or geographic region cannot just be copy/pasted into a second area and be expected to work. Everyone has a different strong point. Some people are better at cold calling than others. Other individuals may find it easier to write blog posts.
Whatever your strongpoint is, there is a marketing tactic to match it. You have to find that (or those) tactics and double down on them. But in order to do that:
I have tried 99 times and have failed, but on the 100th time came success. – Albert Einstein
Sure, that Albert Einstein quote is slightly overused. But it still rings true. Everytime you fail, you’ve simply found one more way of generating business that might not be ideal for you.
You can alter your strategy and keep on working at generating more leads for your real estate business.
Focus your efforts on improving one number in your business. I suggest the number of leads generated.
Once you have your focus, pick 10 ideas that you honestly think can help you achieve growth in that area of your business. Write down those 10 ideas. And only work on those 10 things for the next month. Then, at the end of the month, examine the results from those 10 marketing or lead generation ideas.
You’ll instantly know what 2-4 tactics have potential for your business. Now, you should double down on these tasks. Focus on improving them and getting better results with them. You should become the foremost expert on using them to generate real estate leads for yourself.
The biggest challenge for me is getting over the fact that I have to fail. It’s not that any of these tasks are going to be that hard. Sure, you’ll have to learn several new marketing tactics. And you’ll probably want to give up or not do the task somedays. But that’s not so bad for the financial opportunity that real estate has to offer.
You simply have to take a look at all the marketing tools at your disposal. And try them all for a substantial period of time. Then simply double down on the tactics that work for you.
To make this a bit easier for you, I’ve included a list of real estate marketing and lead generation ideas you can start trying today!
