Did you know the average human has 50,000-70,000 thoughts per day? (Huffington Post Source)
That’s a lot of thinking.
The reason I bring this up is that I want to talk about real estate marketing funnels.
Specifically, I want to talk about the importance of building actual funnels via marketing. And what I like to call Magic 8 Ball Marketing or Wish Marketing.
Too many agents still think like this…
If I Blog Once, I’ll Get Several Leads.
If I Post To Twitter, I’ll Grow My Business.
If I Make One Neighborhood Landing Page, I’ll Get To Page One.
If I Spend $500 On Facebook Ads, I Deserve 2 Transactions Out Of That.
And frankly, the market doesn’t care about your commission check in any of the situations above.
These are examples of Magic 8 Ball marketing. Let me break that down…
If/Then statements usually oversimplify things. These statements imply if I do this one thing the result is going to be more leads or more commission. But the thing is, you’ve lost sight of the fact that the world simply isn’t that simple. The average human has over 50,000 thoughts per day. And in your example, you’ve thought that doing 1 marketing tactic will spur them towards you over all their other thoughts.
That can’t happen.
It simply takes more than one marketing action to start a new behavior (AKA doing business with you) especially when people have 50,000 thoughts per day.
If you market this way, you’ll always experience inconsistent results.
One day, the Magic 8 Ball will like you. And your marketing will get your leads. “Signs Point To Yes”
And other days, you won’t be so lucky. “Very Doubtful”
In this episode of EAPTV, I talk about how you need to think of a real estate marketing funnel in the same way that Gary Keller lays out in the Millionaire Real Estate Agent his ‘touch system’.
You can do this with Facebook Ads, email, Twitter, postcards, or in-person meetings. It doesn’t matter.
The key though is to focus on building a funnel that touches people over time. And not to focus on one-off tactics.
